Using Library Web
Templates
If you are building a new web site affiliated with Yale University Library,
PIC recommends that you use either the Standard or Customizable Templates provided below. These templates make it easier for library web authors to comply
with the library's style guide and technical requirements, such as using valid XHTML
(for more information on XHTML, please visit
http://www.library.yale.edu/wsg/quicklinks/internet.html#xhtml) and Cascading Style Sheets.
Templates also help to maintain consistency in the overall look and feel of the library's
web site.
The first step in building a new web site is to contact Web, Workstation
& Digital Consulting Services to request a new directory on the library web server.
Then, read the documentation below to decide which template is right for you,
study the Web Style Guide, and download the Checklist to complete as you build your site.
Your draft site should be created in a non-public directory, such as your personal directory.
Once you have finished your site, e-mail the Checklist and the URL to your web site
to WW&DCS. Together with PIC, WW&DCS will review the site for compliance before it "goes live."
