Although many of the online resources to which the Yale Library subscribes are restricted by licensing agreements, a number of such products are not. See below for a sampling of favorites recommended by the Library's selectors and subject specialists.

Oyez - At Northwestern University; RealAudio of oral arguments before the U.S. Supreme Court.
Federal Judges Biographical Database - Biographical information for all federal judges since 1789.

Science, Technology, and Medicine

Pubmed - Available from the National Library of Medicine, a free interface to Medline, the premier bibliographic database for the biomedical literature. It also provides linking to all the genome databases.

Area Studies

Handbook of Latin American Studies (HLAS)
Jewish History Resource Center -- Contains links to numerous resources including online texts, bibliographies, archives, maps, and more (from Hebrew University).
ALMISBAH database - Provides links and rankings for Internet resources on the Middle East and Islam. Researchers may find the listing of scholarly journals useful. It is arranged by full text, abstracts or table of contents.

History

American Memory
Making of America - From the University of Michigan and Cornell University.
Texas State Historical Association - Six volume Handbook of Texas. Scholarship in the handbook is definitive and the association put it online the same year they published the printed volumes. The electronic version has a variety of search and navigation tools and is well integrated into the Association's other Web pages.
Early Canadiana Online - A project of Canadian Institute for Historical Microreproductions, National Library of Canada, Universit Laval Library, University of Toronto Library, and Bibliothque nationale du Qubec. A large part of this data is free amd unlicensed. Collections include: Canadian Women's History, Champlain Society Publications, Colonia Government Journals, English Canadian Literature, Hudson's Bay, Jesuit Relations, and Native Studies.
