Collection
Three organizations established during the 1950s made up the European Communities
(became the European Union in 1994): the European Economic Community, the European
Coal and Steel Community and the European Atomic Energy Community.
The Yale Government Documents and Information Center is one of approximately 50 European Union depository libraries in the United States.
The collection contains a large body of statistical
data (EUROSTAT); the Official Journal of the European Commission; and the working papers and documents of the European Parliament, the European Economic and Social Committee, and the Council of the European Union.
Time Span Covered
1958-present, but the majority of materials date from 1973-present

Many European Union documents are available online. Search Orbis, the Yale Library catalog, for books and journals in the European Union collection.
Units With Related Materials in the Yale Library System
The Social Science Library collects statistical data from other international
intergovernmental organizations which complement the European Union data.
The Law Library houses the European Court of Justice reports and
selected other legal materials relating to the EU.
The foreign and international social science collections at Sterling Memorial
Library also complement the European Union collection.
