FOOD AND AGRICULTURE ORGANIZATION (FAO) COLLECTION

The Government Documents and Information Center is a depository for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Most of the documentation, which is received as a part of the depository program, is FAO "sales publications". Many of the depository publications are housed in either the Kline Science Library or the Forestry Library and may be identified through Orbis or the card catalogs. The Government Documents and Information Center retains a small collection of printed publications, primarily those on social and economic conditions.

The FAO publishes statistics on agriculture production, food and nutrition, fisheries, and forests. The full FAOSTAT database is available to Yale IP addresses.

The Government Documents and Information Center holds the microfiche set Food and Agriculture Organization Publications and Documents, which is a complete collection of FAO documentation - working papers, main documents, field documents, and sales publications - produced by or on behalf of the FAO on topics of agriculture, fishing, forestry, economics, nutrition and sustainable development. The microfiche set is indexed by subject, geographic area, project and author in FAO Documentation: Current Bibliography (1976-1979; 1980-1995) and in the FAO Catalogue Online. Each citation provides the microfiche reference number for retrieving the full-text document (sample record here).
