Identifying and Locating Materials
The Center has been a U.S. federal depository since 1859, a United Nations depository since 1945,
a Food and Agriculture Organization depository since 1945, a Canadian federal depository since 1961, and a European Union depository since 1972.
A subset of each of the depository collections is cataloged in Orbis, Yale Library's online catalog. Depository materials not yet cataloged in Orbis can be identified through a variety of online and print indexes. Contact the Government Documents & Information Center for assistance with these indexes and to determine whether any particular item is held in Yale's depository collections.
Scanning, Photocopying and Printing
The library has two self-service scanners available for scanning printed material, microfilm and microfiche.
Use of the scanners is free.
Photocopiers and microfiche reader/printers are operated using a purchased card. A new card may be purchased in the Mudd Library for
$1.00 (a single dollar bill is necessary; change is not available).
Money may be added to existing cards onsite.
Laser printing from computer workstations is possible using an online debit system called UnipriNT.
All uses of scanned, photocopied or printed material are subject to U.S. copyright law.
