Winner of the 2009 Harvey M. Applebaum '59 Award

The winner of the 2009 Harvey M. Applebaum '59 Award is Lauren Harrison (Ezra Stiles College), for her International Studies senior essay "Of Rice and Riots: The Effect of Food Price Increases on Political Stability in Sub-Saharan Africa." The Applebaum Award, established by the family of Harvey M. Applebaum, Class of 1959, is conferred on a Yale College senior for an outstanding essay based on research done in the collections of the University Library's Government Documents & Information Center. Data from the Food and Agriculture Organization were critical to Lauren's analysis.
