Philosophy
Study Room, SML 609
- Purpose. The Philosophy Study Reading Room is to support the study needs of graduate
students and undergraduate majors in Philosophy.
The Collection. The Collection includes
30-year runs of several major philosophy journals (and complete runs
of two journals: The Journal of Symbolic Logic and The Proceedings
of the Aristotelian Society) and critical editions
of major philosophers and important secondary literature. Requests
to add or remove titles should be directed to the Librarian
for Philosophy. Materials in these rooms are part of the Library's
collection and are subject to Library procedures and policies for
acquisition, cataloging and preservation. They do not circulate.
Reservations. The room is normally unlocked whenever SML
is open, and available for use by anyone authorized to enter the
SML stack tower. On occasion, the room may be reserved by members
of the Yale faculty or library staff for talks or library instruction
sessions; requests for such reservations should be directed to the Librarian
for Philosophy. Under no circumstances may the rooms be used for
regular, ongoing classroom instruction.
Equipment. The room is equipped with tables and chairs for
individual or group study and a computer for access to the Library's
online catalog and relevant databases. Electric outlets are available
for laptop computers.
Food and Drink. Except for the rare major ceremonial occasion,
food and drink are not permitted in the rooms.
These procedures will be reviewed at least annually. Comments should
be directed to the Librarian for Philosophy.
