Philosophy Study Room, SML 609

Purpose. The Philosophy Study Reading Room is to support the study needs of graduate students and undergraduate majors in Philosophy.

The Collection. The Collection includes 30-year runs of several major philosophy journals (and complete runs of two journals: The Journal of Symbolic Logic and The Proceedings of the Aristotelian Society) and critical editions of major philosophers and important secondary literature. Requests to add or remove titles should be directed to the Librarian for Philosophy. Materials in these rooms are part of the Library's collection and are subject to Library procedures and policies for acquisition, cataloging and preservation. They do not circulate.

Reservations. The room is normally unlocked whenever SML is open, and available for use by anyone authorized to enter the SML stack tower. On occasion, the room may be reserved by members of the Yale faculty or library staff for talks or library instruction sessions; requests for such reservations should be directed to the Librarian for Philosophy. Under no circumstances may the rooms be used for regular, ongoing classroom instruction.

Equipment. The room is equipped with tables and chairs for individual or group study and a computer for access to the Library's online catalog and relevant databases. Electric outlets are available for laptop computers.

Food and Drink. Except for the rare major ceremonial occasion, food and drink are not permitted in the rooms.

These procedures will be reviewed at least annually. Comments should be directed to the Librarian for Philosophy.
