§ Digitization could be integrated into the workflow of the preservation department. For instance, selectors currently work with preservation on a review process for what gets reformatted and selection for digitization can flow from this process.
§ Orbis can be used as the database of record and to track the process (the 583 field). This was discussed 10 years ago as well. There is local verbiage that can be used. Preservation is already using it.
§ Preservation reformatting has a digital component. TIFFs are already being created and we could keep those files and use them. Bridgeport Bindery is scanning in order to provide preservation photocopies.
§ Item type codes need to be included in Orbis for use in migration or refreshing the data (in digital preservation)
§ We should outsource, as then the equipment is cutting edge.
3. For next time, we will all read the drafts of the reports. Agenda to follow.
