Project 03 : Electronic Reserves Prototype
Courses for Spring 2008 have gone well thus far - RIS did get a little backed-up in the beginning of the semester.
In order to help prioritize digitization requests we will add a box labeled 'Is this item needed during the first month of the semester?' to the on-line form.
Katie reviewed the process for obtaining copyright (draft document will be shared with the e-reserves working group. Those attending thought the process would work.
We have been told that all questions regarding copyright should be referred to the University General Counsel's Office - we will get more informationon on that.
We reviewed our copyright policy and agreed we will change the document to read up to 30% of a book or journal issue can be digitized before copyright is obtained. We will put that recommendation forward for review in our February report.
It was suggested that we create a 'Users Guide for Electronic Reserves' for use by the public - we will work on that this spring.
The issue of requesting non-circulating journals from other libraries was raised as something that might slow the request process down - the Science libraries will review their procedures in this area - SML already allows internal borrowing of non-circulating journals, Chris Killheffer should be consulted to OK sending them for scanning.
