Digital Production & Integration Program (DPIP)
Project 03 : Electronic Reserves Prototype
Meeting Summary: July 20, 2006
Questions / Ideas to be Confirmed:
1. If the Librarian adds ereserves links into Sakai - they will use the Resources tool - if the faculty member wants links on a syllabus or anywhere else - this is currently beyond the scope of this pilot. AGREED
2. Do we notify the faculty member if there is a newer edition? Yes - in advance of the digitization in case this matters to them. We will provide an information page for faculty who may use this service that asks if it is acceptable if we substitute a different edition.
3. If the item is at the LSF and elsewhere - pick the LSF item first.
4. If we own the book but it is discharged - do a rush recall. If the item is not available for two weeks or more - BorrowDirect may be an option to be considered.
5. If a faculty member wants a whole book on reserve - the book goes to print reserve - unless of course we have it electronically.
6. Items in bad condition will be scanned in the DCF - Jen is the contact.
Concerns / Outstanding Issues:
1. Form for RIS - Jen will mock up changes and send around.
2. Link length issue in Orbis for SFX issues - Kalee will investigate.
3. KMR will ask Sue C-P about patrons for tracking items to RIS.
4. Information form for faculty to include the following questions - Can we substitute a newer edition? Will you still create a course pack?
