Digital Production & Integration Program (DPIP)
Project 03 : Electronic Reserves Prototype
Meeting Summary: August 17, 2006
Thanks everyone for a very productive meeting.
Art and Divinity folks have been using the Orbis ereserves template and their work led to the need to change what we enter into the 'Available Online' field. This field should not contain the Article Title information but should only contain the phrase 'Click here to access article'.
This change is necessary as the display in the Sakai Course Reserves tool was not easy to understand. The documentation has been updated - please review it on the ereserves site.
It was decided that the Contact Us link on the Course Reserves feed will go to Karen, Fred, Jen, Katie, Kalee and Roy - that change has been made. The account is ereserves@yale.edu.
The page that displays if the digitized article is not available has been changed to say 'The Electronic Reserves Document you have requested is in process'.
George is working on an easier way to return to Orbis or logout of the CAS from the download page - he will post a demo when he has one ready.
The RIS form needs to be changed to say 'Yale University Library' 'Electronic Reserves' and the tabs after the URL have to be removed - Jen will do this when she returns next week - we will then send out a new form.
I have changed the directories for Divinity on the server where the .pdfs are located so they include the (a) in the name.
Hannah will compare the quality of the images in the digitized .pdfs to the orginal and report on quality.
Karen will check with Jeff Campbell on the specs and standards used in the scanning.
Things to remember when using the Orbis template:
-Be consistent when doing data entry
-Select the correct semester for the course in Orbis Course Reserves (a = fall, b = spring)
-Watch out for trailing tabs or carriage returns when copying in the URL from the form.
We will add an additional page to the spreadsheet that contains the citation and the URL per Dana's request.
