Visiting Korean Studies Librarian, August 2009 - July 2010


Young-Aie Kim, Head of the Office of International Affairs at Seoul National University (SNU) Library, is the fourth visiting librarian from South Korea to spend a year as Visiting Korean Studies Librarian at Yale's East Asia Library.

Ms. Kim holds a degree in English from WooSuk University, has completed coursework in Library Science at Seonggyungwan University (Library Science), and is currently enrolled in an advanced program in Administration at Korean National Open University.

She started working as a librarian for the Presidential Advisory Committee for Educational Policy. From 1994 until 2007, besides her main role as Head of the Office of International Affairs, she was responsible for collection development in the Area of International Organizations publications at SNU Library. During the same period, she also served as representative of Human Relations Area Files (HRAF) at Seoul National University Library. In her current position as Head of theOffice of International Affairs, Ms. Kim is responsible for international relations and professional exchanges between the SNU Library and peer institutions around the world.
