The Israelite Departure from EgyptThe Israelite Departure from Egypt is the beginning of the Hallel service. The text in the center of this image comes from Psalm 114 which recounts in magnificent poetry the exodus from Egypt. The psalm describes the redemption not only as a national event but a cosmic one as well: the mountains trembled and the Jordan turned back. Surrounding the written text is an image of the parting of the Reed Sea. |
