Newspapers and Newspaper Indexes NewspapersTo access current, full-text Latin American Newspapers, use the ProQuest database Latin American Newsstand (see description below). The paper version of a small number Latin American newspaper titles received by the library are located in the Newspaper Room on the first floor of the Sterling Memorial Library. The Latin American section of the Newspaper Room is located on the right side of the room under the heading "Latin America." The Latin American Collection also has a considerable number of Latin American newspapers on microfilm. These are housed in the Microtext Room, located in the basement floor of SML. Readex's digitized Latin American Newspapers (LAN), a part of the World Newspaper Archive, provides more than 35 fully searchable newspapers published in the 19th and 20th centuries from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Venezuela, and elsewhere. LAN offers coverage of the people, issues, and events that shaped this region between 1805 and 1922. ProQuest
Latin American Newsstand provides full-text information in Spanish and Portuguese from
41 newspapers from Latin America and Puerto Rico. The complete articles are available in ASCII
format. Key newspaper titles include Reforma and El Universal (Mexico); O Globo and Folha de
São Paulo (Brazil); EL Comercio (Peru); La nación (Argentina); El Mercurio (Chile);
