Performance
Appraisal System Committee Charge
The Committee is charged to design and implement a performance
appraisal system for all levels of staff in the Yale University Library
that will increase individual and organizational capability to support
high performance goals. The system will:
1. Evaluate a staff member's work performance as it relates
to the achievement of the strategic goals as determined by the department
or unit in support of the library's mission.
2. Encourage and support 2-way communication by ensuring
that supervisors and employees annually review scope of job responsibilities,
understand the expectations set for the job and review areas that need
improvement.
3. Set forth a plan for identifying, improving and developing
an individual staff member's skills that will assist in the achievement
of the library's strategic goals and contribute to their personal and
professional growth.
4. Provide feedback to the staff member regarding the
quality of their work performance including how well the library's mission
and values are integrated into the staff member's work.
5. Tie recognition and reward for work performance to
the achievement of performance objectives.
6. Ensure that supervisors are equipped and where necessary,
trained to carry out these important responsibilities.
