Performance Appraisal
and Development Program
Overview of Performance Management
The performance appraisal is a process and a means of setting goals, measuring
results, and improving individual and organizational performance. This process
also fosters professional and career development on behalf of Library staff
members.
At Yale Library, the performance appraisal process supports the strategic priority
of organizational flexibility and agility. It fosters 2-way communication between
supervisor and staff member. The performance appraisal consists of three parts:
· The planning meeting, where initial goals,
measures of success and competencies, or job behaviors, for development are
established.
· The check-in meeting, where goals are reviewed
and modified as necessary.
· The final performance review, where individual
work performance vs. established goals is appraised for the review period.
Key Dates
- Evaluation Period: March 1 - February 28
- Check-in Meetings: October/November
