Route 15 (Wilbur Cross/ Merritt Parkways):
From north: Take Exit 61. Drive south on Whitney Avenue
for approximately five miles. Turn right on Sachem Street at the Peabody Museum
traffic light. Continue to next traffic light (at Prospect Street) and turn
left. Proceed for two blocks until Prospect Street becomes College Street,
at the Woolsey Hall Rotunda. Continue for one block to Wall Street. A right
turn will take you to the library's Wall Street entrance, which is just past
the High Street intersection. There is no parking on this section of the street.

From south: Take Exit 57. Drive east on Route 34 (Derby Avenue)
for five miles to the fork of Derby Avenue and George Street. Continue on
George Street about eight blocks to York Street. Turn left and drive three
blocks to Elm Street. Turn right and proceed one block to High Street, where
a left turn would bring you to the library. Sterling Memorial Library (High
Street entrance) is on the left in the middle of the block. This section
of High Street is for pedestrians only. See Parking

Interstate 95:
From north: Turn off turnpike at I-91 North Exit (Hartford,
Springfield Exit) and continue for a short distance on I-91 to Trumbull Street
Exit 3. Follow Interstate 91 directions below.
From south: Take Downtown New Haven Exit 47. Proceed to the
first exit to the city streets. This brings you onto North Frontage Road.
Continue for four blocks to York Street. Turn right and proceed for four
blocks to Elm Street. Turn right and proceed one block to High Street, where
a left turn would bring you to the library. Sterling Memorial Library (High
Street entrance) is on the left in the middle of the block. This section

Interstate 91:
From north: Take Exit 3 (Trumbull Street Exit). Continue to
the end of Trumbull Street to the fourth traffic light. Turn left onto Prospect
Street and continue for one block. Prospect Street becomes College Street
at this point, at the Woolsey Hall Rotunda. Continue for one block to Wall
Street. A right turn will take you to the library's Wall Street entrance,
which is just past the High Street intersection. There is no parking on this
section of Wall Street. See Parking below. Continue
past the High Street intersection. The Wall Street entrance is on your left.
Amtrak trains run daily through
New Haven from Boston and Washington.
MetroNorth commuter
trains run hourly between Grand Central Station, New York and Union Station/New
Haven.
Taxis are readily available at Union Station. You can also take the
J/U bus and get off at the New Haven Green. Walk several blocks up Elm
Street until you come to High Street. Turn right and you'll find the library
on your left, in the center of the block.
