Bio for Lisa Kimmel, MS, RD, CD-N, CSSD
Lisa Kimmel is a Registered Dietitian, Certified Nutritionist and Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from James Madison University and Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology from Southern Connecticut State University. Lisa completed her dietetic internship at Yale-New Haven Hospital, where she managed outpatient nutrition services and served on the clinical faculty for over 15 years. She is now the sports nutritionist for Yale University and works as part of the Preventive Health team for Yale Health.
Lisa has been extensively published in professional journals and magazines. Most recently, she co-authored, Generation Extra Large, Rescuing our children from the epidemic of obesity which received national media attention. She has also contributed to articles in Newsweek, Family Circle, Better Homes and Gardens, Parenting, Fit Pregnancy, and Woman’s Fitness. She has appeared on national and local television and radio and serves on the advisory boards for Super Chefs of the Universe, ABC news, babycenter.com, Consumer Health Interactive and Certified Health Solutions, She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Sports, Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutritionists Practice Group, Connecticut Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Collegiate and Professional Sports Dietitians Association. In 1997, she was named “Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year.”
