Wrap-up
of Field Day
When the final numbers were tallied Diana found that attendance ranged
between 115-140 people. Columbus House was glad to take our leftovers.
Consensus was that while more people came than last year, less people
ate than last year. Attendance was steady all day.
A cooler was suggested for vegetables(onions, tomatos and lettuce) as
well as cheese for next year. Cesar Zapata suggested that even a disposable
cooler would be good for that.
There was a discussion as to having Field Day in another venue other than
Lighthouse Point. Various complaints were made from attendees about the
high price of parking this year. ($10)
Diana started inquiries at Mountainside in Wallingford for an all inclusive
day. The Only Game in Town, Camp Cedarcrest, and The Yale Outdoor Center
were mentioned as possibilities for Field Day next year. Ruth Carruth
agreed to chair the event for 2005.
Another discussion about whether to have Field Day at all was started.
No decision was made as of yet. Further discussion in the future as warranted.
Staff Art Expo
Mary Bradway reported that we will accept items until the end of next
week. We have a good variety of items and a good response from staff.
It was suggested that items might be rotated out, perhaps in October,
if there is time in order to give exhibit space to another type of art
or another staff member. Display tags will be in by tomorrow August 11,
2004.
Suzanne Mirabile will chair the Art exhibit for 2005.
New Staff
Reception
Bernadette reported that as to date there are about 15 new hires for the
Library System. She was confident that there would be 30 new hires for
this half of the year.
The last 2 weeks of October were suggested for dates of the Reception.
Bernadette would get scheduling for the Lecture Hall as well as find a
time when Alice and all the AUL’s were available.
Ruth and Suzanne volunteered to co-chair the New Staff Reception for October.
Diana re-iterated the need for the work to be divided evenly between committee
members.
Holiday
Party
The first week in December was slated for the holiday party. Different
venues were suggested. The Sterling nave, The President’s Room at Woolsey
Hall, The Divinity School Common Room, and the mezzanine at Beinecke were
the 4 mentioned.
Problems for all were brought up. Permission, handicapped access, willingness
to get to the venue, and safety were a few. A concern for having the event
at Woolsey Hall is that you must use Yale catering, which can be more
expensive and restrictive than other Library areas.
Dates were needed for the holiday party as well.
Amanda Patrick and Kelly Shand agreed to co-chair the event.
Next meeting
will take place on September 14, 2004 at noon.
