NEW STAFF RECEPTION
Adhesive nametags will be used instead of pins. People have started to respond to the invitations and introductions will be worked on in the next few weeks by the AULs. That will be held in the SML Lecture Hall on Nov. 12, 2004.

HOLIDAY PARTY/RAFFLE
Luce Hall is booked for the holiday party. A save the date e-mail will be going out in the next day or so via Yulib. Kelly Shand is looking into caterers and will have some bids and ideas by the next meeting. Two places were mentioned as possibilities. Judi’s European Bakery and La Cuisine. Also Yale catering was mentioned. Bernadette gave the names of two people in Beinecke who might have recommendations for caterers that work with large parties. Kelly plans to contact them in the next few days.

We will mention as a bonus for holding the party at Luce the parking lot at Luce Hall and the Yale shuttle which drops off nearby.

The holiday raffle prizes are starting to come in. Thanks to all who brought the prizes in today. Keep canvassing for more.

We will start selling raffle tickets on or around the 15th of November.

THE NUTCRACKER AT THE SHUBERT

As last year’s event was so successful we hope to make it a yearly event. Diana asked if anyone would like to be the contact person for it. Stephen Cohen will call the theater for group ticket prices. Cesar Zapata volunteered to help with the contact list and collecting money.

BRING YOUR KIDS TO WORK DAY
Diana was asked if the library would have something like the National bring your daughters/sons to work day. Bernadette will bring it up to Diane Turner as there were insurance concerns. Having an age limit was suggested. Kids in between the ages of 12-18 perhaps. It was suggested that it work in conjunction with the Ice Cream Social as people do bring their families to that event.

STAFF ART EXHIBIT
will end on Friday October 29, 2004. Mary Bradway and Diana needed help in removing all items from the cases and returning them to their owners. Lolly Lee and Stephen Cohen said they would be willing to help with that.

OTHER BUSINESS
We have one member on the books, who has not shown up for any regular meetings or been in contact with the members of the committee even after repeated e-mails and a face to face meeting with another committee member on the issue of his absenteeism. The issue of whether to call for a new M&P to replace him was discussed. Several names were brought up as potential new members. It was decided to ask and see who would be interested in serving out the term.

The next meeting will be at SML 411 on November 4, 2004 at 2 pm unless otherwise notified.
