NEW
STAFF RECEPTION
Bernadette reported that there are 30 new staff members coming to the
Reception. The reception is on Friday November 12, 2004 at SSS Hall Rm
405.
Andrew Gray is doing the name tags which will be adhesive instead of pins.
Ruth suggested that Andrew be given a thank you token from the Staff Association
for all he does for us throughout the year. The committee was in agreement
for that. Token to be decided on in later meetings.
Amanda Patrick volunteered to help with the Reception from 2:45-5. All
volunteers were checked again. Kathleen Burns is manning the nametag table.
Stephen C and Cesar Z will help clear up and Lolly is helping throughout.
We will be giving out carnations to the new staff members. There will
be flowers on the food and nametag tables.
Ruth
has checked with the caterers, the room people, and the AV people and
everything is set. All that was left was to check with Julia’s Bakery
about the cakes.
Since the reception is on a Friday we will need containers for the leftovers.
Please bring plastic wrap or Tupperware is you wish to have some leftovers.
HOLIDAY
PARTY There
was a slight snafu with the room at Luce Hall. It was double booked which
left us in the lurch. Thanks to Diana Q. and Doreen at Beinecke who moved
mountains and events, we will have the party at Beinecke on December 8,
2004. Because we need to use Beinecke approved caterers the two bids Kelly
looked into will probably not work. She will call Doreen for a list of
caterers that they use there.
Ruth made the suggestion not to have all the food on one table. And Bernadette
hoped that not all the food comes out from the kitchen at once. We will
do our best to make that clear to whichever company we decide on. Which
will be in the next two weeks.
HOLIDAY RAFFLE
Kelly brought in two donations for the raffle. They were a handmade afgan
in green and white and a gift certificate from Georgina’s Hair Studio.
Diana is using her office for the meantime to store the prizes. Bernadette
offered the use of her office as well. Please let’s get as many
prizes as we can for this year. We will start selling tickets the week
of November 15. Cesar Z asked if we can buy tickets for ourselves. It
has been acceptable in the past.
TICKETS FOR THE NUTCRACKER Stephen
C. called the Shubert about prices and tickets for the Nutcracker Ballet.
We need at least 10 people to get a group rate. We decided that the Balcony
A at $31.70 was a reasonable price. The seats will be in the first 5 rows
of the Balcony. The dates for this are December 3-5, 2004. The attendees
will need to pay first and we will pick up the tickets and distribute
them.
STAFF
ART EXHIBIT
Will stay until mid November until Sue Crockford-Peters can get her
exhibit organized and moved in. Next year it will run for 2 weeks and
close to the Ice Cream Social which is usually in late July or August
so that other staff and our families can see and admire.
OTHER BUSINESS
Marybeth
Bean might have to resign from the committee as she is having health problems.
NEXT
MEETING: will be on 11/11/2004 to nail down last minute details for the
New Staff Reception. We will have our regularly scheduled meeting on November
18, 2004 at 2 pm.
