FIELD
DAY
The date booked for
Field Day is July 23, 2005. It will be at Lighthouse Point again in the
same pavilion we had for the 2004 field day.
BLOOD
DRIVE:
Ruth
Carruth is scheduling another Blood Drive. She has been in touch with
the Red Cross and the McDougall Center. We will hear the date shortly.
NOOKS
AND CRANNIES:
Kathleen
Burns will be the co-coordinator for this year’s Nooks and Crannies
tours. She decided we will be following the same formula as last year
in which each member of the committee will be the organizer of one tour.
We will brainstorm the previous lists for ideas.
We are
starting earlier this year in order to schedule more than one of the popular
tours such as the Grove Street Cemetery. She is going to send around an
e-mail list of the last few years. Comments and ideas are needed.
Bernadette Cioffi suggested that we intersperse library tours with the
non-library areas. The Medical Library and the Divinity library were two
tours that were mentioned that might be used.
NEW
HAVEN VOUCHER PROGRAM:
Diane
Kaplan got in touch with Diana Quinones in regards to LiSA selling the
vouchers in the library. The vouchers are an alternative to giving cash
or change to the homeless people around New Haven. They can be used for
food, medicine, and even shelters. They cannot be used for tobacco or
alcohol or be redeemed for cash.
Cesar
Zapata was going to check out the New Haven Cares branch office at the
Law School for more information.
Kevin
Glick volunteered to be the contact person for this.
NEW
STAFF RECEPTION:
Diana has been in contact with Antonia Casserta
about dates for the spring New Staff Reception. She gave her a range from
March to May.
Kelly Shand agreed to step down from organizing
this event so that next year’s committee members will have party
planning experience. Kevin Glick agreed to co-ordinate it.
THANK
YOU CARDS:
Amanda Patrick asked about printing out
thank you cards. She is going to print some for us to use for the Nooks
and Crannies tours.
WEIGHT
WATCHERS:
Mary Bradway reported there are almost enough
people for a third session of Weight Watchers at Work. She hopes to start
Jan. 24, 2005. She was going to try for non library staff to make up the
difference in people. She contacted someone at the Art Gallery and was
given two names to try at the Graduate School.
TSUNAMI
RELIEF FUNDRAISING:
Stephen Cohen reported on this. Alice Prochaska, sent out an e-mail urging
the library staff to contribute to either Americares or International
Rescue Committee. We on the committee, are the contact people at our libraries
or departments for those who would like to donate money to help. Only
checks can be accepted. When you have donations, please let Stephen know
how much it is and give him the checks or to Debbie McGraw at the business
office.
Please do not leave them in an unlocked or unguarded area. This will be
going on for about 2or 3 months.
If
someone from a library without a contact person asks about the fundraising
you can refer them to Stephen Cohen at 2-0870 and he will organize a contact
person there.
A
money order or traveller’s check made out to the organization should
work as well.
Kathleen
Burns will put links from the LiSA page to both organizations. She is
also going to place a standing page on the site about the Food Drive.
NEXT MEETING

2005 at 2 PM in SML Rm. 410.
