BLOOD
DRIVE Ruth
Carruth reported that the Blood Drive scheduled for 2/17/05 has 1 volunteer
and 4 donors signed up.
Stephen Cohen agreed to help volunteer if we still go ahead with the drive.
The Red Cross has said that it needs a minimum of 80 people to show.
The
option of postponing it until April was discussed because the Undergraduates
had a blood drive running at the Payne Whitney Gym on 2/10/05. By April
donors would be able to give again.
Ruth
was going to check with the contact at the McDougall Center about dates.
NOOKS
AND CRANNIES TOURS
Kathleen Burns
sent out a list of N/C tours and people who will co-ordinate them. We
had more destinations than expected so there will be a total of 12 Nooks
and Crannies tours this year. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays were
considered the best times for the tours. We will try to do them at the
noon hour, but some are not Yale affiliated and we need to be flexible
with their schedule. Bernadette Cioffi was going to check about release
time if some of the tours cannot be during lunch times.
Kathleen wants the tour coordinator to come up with dates and times and
let her know them. She will set up a master calendar in order to keep
the times and dates organized. A week before the tour is scheduled the
tour coordinator will send out an e-mail announcing it.
The option of getting a bus to LSF was discussed, as the logistics of
getting to Hamden is often difficult for some members of the staff.
We
also discussed booking a bus to get to the Lewis Walpole Library in Farmington.
NEW
HAVEN VOUCHER PROGRAM: Kevin
spoke with the person at Law about the members of the committee helping
sell the vouchers at their next scheduled sale. That is March 8, 2005
from 12-2 pm. He is going to send out a meeting maker to those that have
it and those that want to help can reply.
NEW
STAFF RECEPTION:
The New Staff
Reception will be on Monday May 9, 2005 from 2-4pm. As the Lecture Hall
was booked we will be using the Aurelian Room in SSS Hall (Room 405).
Ruth will send Kevin the menus from the last reception.
Also
Kevin booked a date for the fall reception. The date he booked was September
16, 2005. Because of concerns that it might be too close to the Spring
reception he agreed to check to see if October 14, 2005 was still open
for the AUL’s and Alice.
The
spring date was sent to Library Events calendar.
Because
of the extreme busyness of the AUL’s schedule it was suggested that
perhaps they could appoint a delegate in case something comes up and they
are not able to attend.
TSUNAMI
RELIEF:
Stephen Cohen reported that we have about $1300.00 for Tsunami relief.
He said that Alice is very pleased about this and will let it go on for
a little longer and will send the money to both charities with a personal
letter from her.
It was suggested
that the story be sent to Library Links and to Nota Bene when it is finished.
Stephen will send out another reminder e-mail to give at some point.
MUSIC
IN THE COURTYARD:
Diana Quinones reminded us that we used to have a scheduled concert of
different musical volunteers in Selin Courtyard at lunch time. And would
it be something that we could do again.
Stephen Cohen remembered that the last two concerts had to be cancelled
because of cold and rain. The option of doing them in June and July was
discussed.
Kevin Glick
asked if it was something that could be taken “on the road”
for other libraries and their staff to enjoy.
The idea
was tabled for the moment.
Kathleen
will mock-up a survey to assess what activities Library staff would like
to see LiSA organize. She will send this out to the committee first for
feedback before submitting it to YU-LIB.
MEMBERS
FOR FY 2006-07:
In order to have enough M&P members for the committee next year we
need to know what would be the best way to get their interest and attention.
E-mails have been sent with varying success. Another option is to check
the Communications Committee database for people who have an interest
in serving on a committee and another option was to send out an announcement
concurrent with the Performance Appraisal so that people who need or want
to be on a committee will be thinking of us.
Also making
an announcement at the New Staff Reception was suggested.
