NEW
HAVEN VOUCHER PROGRAM
Kevin reported
that there was a good response to the sale of vouchers last month. Several
non-committee members suggested some alterations to the program, which
we cannot currently implement.
A
discussion whether or not to help in another sale next month was brought
to the table. We agreed that it would be a good idea to see who else wants
vouchers. It would be hard to determine how often staff members would
need them. Kevin noted that he sold more vouchers after the formal sale
was over, but said that it wasn’t hard or inconvenient.
NOOKS
AND CRANNIES TOURS
There
are 6 scheduled tours and 1 tentatively scheduled tour. Two have already
taken place. There are tours upcoming in April. On the 6th and the 13th.
So far no tours are scheduled for the same week.
Kathleen suggested that when initial e-mail is sent, liasons should announce
any tour size limits. Normally tours host approximately 15 to 20 people.
Also a wait list is a good idea as people tend to drop out at the last
minute. A list of 3 or 4 alternates is usually the norm.
Bernadette
has confirmed that release time can be given for the tour of LSF with
supervisor approval. Lolly will determine how to organize transportation
when the tour draws closer. Amanda suggested that detailed directions
on how to get to LSF be given out, as it is tricky to get to.
TSUNAMI
RELIEF:
The
total amount of money collected from library staff was $2,050.00 for tsunami
relief. Alice sent 2 letters to Americares and 1 to International Rescue
Committee.
Another suggestion from Alice related to tsunami relief was helping libraries
rebuild and salvage their collections. However that will not happen immediately.
Also a sorting process would have to take place to see if what we are
sending is what is needed.
NEW
STAFF RECEPTION:
The new staff reception is scheduled for May 9 in the Aurelian room at
SSS Hall.
Diana mentioned that we might need to get custodial services to come in
and clean before the reception starts, as it was messy last time. Kevin
had not contacted caterers as of yet, but he was planning on it soon.
OTHER
BUSINESS:
Mary
Caldera of the Communications Committee contacted Diana about LiSA co-sponsoring
a committee fair sometime in the spring. She hoped that it would boost
interest in committee membership. The attending members agreed that if
it was done soon that it would potentially help bring people on committees.
ART
EXHIBIT:
Aubrey
Novak agreed to chair the staff art exhibit. Lolly Lee offered to help.
The exhibit will be held for 2 weeks in July or August. An e-mail should
go out in April to alert staff members when it will be.
BOOK
DRIVE FOR COLUMBUS HOUSE:
It was suggested that another book drive for Columbus House be
held through the library. Amanda Patrick agreed to chair it.
NEXT
MEETING: will be on 4/7/2005 at the SML carpeted spoon.
