Nooks
and Crannies Tours
Kathleen
reported on the progress of the tours. They are going well and all tour
dates are on the website now.
We
had discussed a tour of the Lewis Walpole Library in Farmington. They
are undergoing renovations at the moment and are not open for touring.
However Kathleen spoke to Maggie Powell and she said that the Lewis Walpole
would be more than happy to have a tour in the spring of 2007 and that
they would subsidize the transportation.
Kevin
Glick mentioned that the New Haven Hall of records was hesitant about
having tours so we will drop that one from the schedule.
NEW
HAVEN VOUCHER PROGRAM
There
is a sale of the vouchers in the Law School Dining room on Tuesday April
12, 2005. Kevin is taking the 12:30 shift and Ruth volunteered to take
the 1:00 shift. Kevin had posters made up and they were distributed to
members of the committee to post at outlying libraries as well as a few
places in SML.
He will also send a Yulib announcement.
NEW
STAFF RECEPTION
It
will take place on Monday May 9, 2005 in SSS Hall. A posting in Library
Links had the date and place as April 26, 2005 in the Lecture Hall. Kevin
will send out an announcement correcting the date and place.
As it stands there are about 30 new staff members. Kevin kept the Yale
catering menu as we had it last time and will set it for about 100 people.
Diana
mentioned that the area will probably need to be cleaned before we use
it. Bernadette suggested that we find out who the area manager for SSS
hall is and contact them to have the Aurelian Room cleaned before that
date.
WEIGHT
WATCHERS
Diana
asked that someone who will be on the committee for next year think about
taking over the contact for Weight Watchers. It is a successful program,
but a lot of work.
SURVEY
Kathleen found out that the free survey at survey monkey has a limit of
how many people can respond. Ruth said that if she puts together the survey
we need and would send it to Katie Bauer it can be done as Yale has a
site license for it.
OTHER
BUSINESS
Diana had not heard back from Mary Caldera about the committee
fair, so we are not sure if it will happen.
BLOOD
DRIVE
Ruth was having trouble getting in touch with anyone to set up another
blood drive. Bernadette suggested that she contact Kate Reynolds to see
if she wanted to help.
COLUMBUS
HOUSE
Amanda Patrick called Columbus House and is waiting to hear back
from them if they need or want another book drive.
OTHER
BUSINESS
Stephen Cohen made the suggestion that whenever possible we use local
merchants for events such as receptions and field day. Bernadette agreed
with that suggestion also commenting that it would be easier at the holiday
time to get raffle prizes from merchants that we have a relationship with.
NEXT
MEETING: will be on 4/21/2005 in the Spoon, SML.
