holiday party, Field Day, Blood Drives in conjunction with the Red Cross
and HGS, Book drives for Columbus House and the food drive at Christmastime,
the Nooks and Crannies tours, the staff art exhibit and the holiday raffle.
Currently meetings are every two weeks on Thursdays at 2pm. This is subject
to change at the discretion of the incoming chair.
The
committee is made up of 13 members 6 C&T’s and 6 M&P’s.
Ruth will be asking for volunteers for a new webmaster, secretary and
co-chair at the next meeting. Bernadette explained the importance of every
member helping out during the year.
BLOOD
DRIVE: A
blood drive is scheduled for July 19, 2005 in the SML Lecture Hall from
10:00-3:15. Volunteers will be needed to help staff the canteen, registration
table and to help set up. There will be hour long shifts during the day.
Red Cross staff will train the volunteers. Ruth will have a master list
for volunteering.
FIELD
DAY:
The annual Field Day is July 23, 2005 at Lighthouse Point Park. This year
it is catered. We need to provide water, ice, tubs and paper goods. Ruth
is thinking of getting the small bottles of Poland Springs water and Stephen
Cohen suggested looking into putting it on a Yale Poland Springs account
instead of buying cases from a store.
We are going to need people to help set up, clean up and take photos.
Human Resources has a camera that they loan out to us. Cesar volunteered
to be the photographer. We need to remember permission slips if we are
going to post any photos on the web site.
There
will be a baking contests; there is no limit to entries. There are three
categories, Best Chocolate, best fruit and best other. There will be games
for kids and prizes
Signs will be posted for security and custodial staff so they will know
they are invited. Tara Kennedy volunteered to post them in the basement
of SML near the break rooms. It is rain or shine, although we can use
the carousel if it is empty as a rain place.
STAFF SURVEY:
Kathleen Burns reported that Katie Bauer is adding the newest updates
to the staff survey. She reports that it will be sent out in a few weeks
at the latest. Katie will be getting the results when the survey is done.
Kathleen will liaison with the chair of LiSA to ensure that results from
Katie are channeled back to LiSA.
BOOK
DRIVE: Amanda Patrick spoke to Columbus House and they will be picking
up the books on Thursday about 9:30 am at SML. She needs a few volunteers
to be available from 9-10 to help sort, pack and load the books from the
LiSA closet to the Wall Street entrance. When she has the final tallies
she will let us know how many books were given to the new facility. If
you can help please contact Amanda.
OTHER:
Diana thanked the outgoing committee members for serving, especially Stephen
Cohen who served three years one of which as chair, Amanda and Kathleen
also stayed on for another year, which was appreciated. And thanks went
to Aubrey, Patrick, and Kevin who filled positions mid-year.
