Members present: Ruth Carruth, Aubrey Novak, Patrick Butler, Cesar Zapata, Lolly Lee, Kevin Glick, Tara Kennedy, Maryetta Russell, Susan Tucker.

Members Absent: Bernadette Cioffi, Pamela Clifford, David McMahon, and Michael Rush.

Meeting convened at 2:00 p.m.

STAFF ART EXHIBIT :
Aubrey reported that there was one misspelled name in the exhibit signage that would need to be corrected.
Scheduling issues - 2 weeks is too short, 1 month is probably a better length.
It was noted that Leslie Santora in Conservation was very helpful with the signage for the exhibit - a thank you note will be sent to Conservation.

STAFF FIELD DAY:
80 people attended this year (120 last year)
Biggest complaint: too far away and the cost of parking (for non-New Haven residents)

Proposal of new location for next year: College Woods, which has soccer fields, pavilion and Alice has offered her pool for one hour plus a lifeguard.
Concerns:
Would the distance between College Woods and Alice's house be a problem?
Would parking be an issue? - maybe parking at high school?
Bus drops off too far from the pavilion
Fields are used in the AM for soccer at College Woods
Diane Turner will get a lifeguard through the Red Cross OR Yale students are also qualified, says Cesar, we should get two to be safe, but we must pay them
Need event chair ASAP to organize next staff Field Day - what will be the cost of renting the pavilion at College Woods?

Diana was told that lots of people had fun this year at the Field Day
Catering it was fabulous - definitely stick to that - caterer was Hero's from East Haven (usually do Yale Union functions)
Next year, no gift certificates/ contest - having people bring desserts is a better idea, as many people who brought desserts didn't want to enter the contest
Also petty cash will no longer reimburse for gift certificates - it has to go through regular employee reimbursement - change in University policy that was not told to the Committees.

BLOOD DRIVE :
We received a nice letter from the Red Cross - 84 lives saved with the donation they received from our drive - 114 lives saved if you include the people who had to be turned away!
Next year - the room must have air conditioning!! Law School is probably our best bet for location next year.

DIAPER DRIVE :
Suggested/ chaired by Susan Tucker, assisted by Maryetta Russell
This will take place in April/May
Description of Diaper Drive: diapers are not covered by Food Stamps or WIC, so the "New Haven Diaper Bank" (pending non-profit) was started to assist people in affording diapers for their infants. Diapers are purchased/ collected by the Diaper Bank and then delivered to Social Service organizations, who distribute the diapers

Thinking that cash/check donation would be best, but will have drop-off locations (boxes) at Central Campus, Divinity and Medical.
Diapers do not have to be pre-wrapped - disposable only, no cloth
Cash/checks can be given to any LiSA member
Ruth will add all committee member names to all official emails sent out from LiSA - this was OK with all present

STAFF SURVEY:
Will build on those responses, which were mostly positive

OTHER BUSINESS:
We need folks to sign up to be chairs of events. Patrick suggested that newer members pair up with seasoned members to co-chair events. Some events are already chaired, including the Holiday Party, Nooks and Crannies tours, New Staff Day.
All LiSA meetings canceled until September where chair signing up will be revisited.
