Members present: Ruth Carruth, Lolly Lee, Aubrey Novak, Mike Rush, David McMahon, Bernadette Cioffi, Susan Tucker, Patrick Butler, Tara Kennedy, Cesar Zapata.
Members Absent: Pamela Clifford, Kevin Glick, Maryetta Russell.
Meeting convened at 2:00 PM.
COMMITTEE FAIR:
Tentatively scheduled for early or mid-June 2006.
It was decided that we would co-sponsor the Committee Fair with the Communications Committee (CC). Tara and Lolly volunteered to be the LiSA liaisons and meet with the CC members to plan the fair. Our role so far is to organize the food and setup in the Lecture Hall. Ruth will speak with Debbie McGraw in LBO regarding funding.
NEW STAFF RECEPTION:
Scheduled for Monday, April 24 th from 3-5 in the Lecture Hall.
There is an expected 30 (estimated) new staff to be honored.
Currently the catering is set for 60 people, but will be increased for about 120 people (approximately). The caterer is Cranberries; located in Branford , CT. LAS will be responsible for the nametags. Susan or Maryettta will contact LBO regarding flowers - 1 bouquet for the front table and about 30 carnations. Instead of sheet cake, there will be cupcakes. The caterer will send the invoice to either Susan or Maryetta.
NOOKS & CRANNIES TOUR:
The schedule was updated to include the tours of the Medical Library (April 26 th ) and the Yale Collection of Musical Instruments (May 3 rd ). A Geology / Chemistry Libraries tour is scheduled for May 9 th . The Law Library tour will be scheduled in mid-April. A Preservation tour will be scheduled in either in June. A Beinecke tour of "moving books" (pop-ups, books with vovelles, etc.) will be scheduled for July or August (or both) There will be no tour of the Ornithology Library. Mike mentioned that list is on the LiSA website and will be updated as more tours are scheduled.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL:
Scheduled for May 2006. It will be organized by LAS.
SUMMER BLOOD DRIVE:
It was decided that we would organize a blood drive this summer. A new location is needed, as the Lecture Hall is not air-conditioned. Some suggestions were the Law School and the McDougal Center in the Hall of Graduate Studies. Ruth will contact Michael B. at the Law School regarding available space.
OTHER NEWS:
Bernadette Cioffi is stepping down as Ex-Officio. Andrew Gray will be Bernadette's successor as the next Ex-Officio.
