COMMITTEE FAIR:
Amelia Prostano from the Communication Committee came to talk to LiSA about the Committee Fair. The Fair will take place on June 15 from 2:30-4:30pm in Sterling Lecture Hall. The Lecture Hall has already been reserved for the Fair. The budget for the Fair is $425, including approximately $104 for setup and breakdown of the room. There will be two committees per table (six committee tables) and one table for refreshments. On the same day, mini workshops will be conducted on how to chair a committee and how to be a good committee member. It was agreed that both committees would assist with the setup and breakdown of the Fair.
The LiSA Committee (via the Fair budget and leftovers from the International Party) will provide the refreshments, paper goods and possibly balloons. Tara and Lolly are in charge of this. Punch and cookies for approximately 150 people was what was provided for refreshments at the last Fair. For ice, it should be kept in plastic bags in recycling bins rather than Styrofoam containers, as they broke last year.
BOOK DRIVE:
Lolly said that 790 books and 32 magazines were collected for Columbus House. Alison Cunningham of Columbus House was very appreciative on the donation. Congratulations! Lolly also mentioned that the LiSA closet is not as crowded now that the books have been delivered.
NEW STAFF RECEPTION:
Reminder: New Staff Reception is April 24 from 3-5pm. Susan said that she and Maryetta had contacted the caterers and re-signed a new contract to have enough food for 120 people. Susan will send out an email to get volunteers for setup and cleanup. Tara and Pam volunteered to sit at the welcome table. We will need to ask someone to volunteer to take photographs - hopefully David or Aubrey will be able to do so.
BLOOD DRIVE:
Ruth said that the Red Cross is planning to have a repeat drive on July 25. We cannot have it in the SML Lecture Hall again because of the lack of air conditioning. Ruth had contacted the Law School and was waiting for an answer. The Graduate School was only interested (in the past) when its students could be involved, and since school is closed in the summer, they would probably not want to volunteer their space. We have found a chair for this event: Pam! Pam said that she would check into using Law School space for the event. Between she and Ruth, it appeared as though they both had contacts that might be willing to work with us on this. Last year, the costs for setup and breakdown of the room via custodial was waived via Debbie for "the good of the cause." We hope that this is still applicable this year.
NEXT YEAR'S ASSOCIATION:
Ruth passed out the mission statement for the LiSA Committee for committee review. Choosing new members for the Committee was reviewed: in May, Ruth will send out an email calling for nominations for the Committee. Deadline for nominations will be May 30 th , unless we need additional nominations. For a review of LiSA Committee mission statement, please see the LiSA Committee website.
