May 4, 2006
SML 411

Members present: Ruth Carruth, Lolly Lee, Cesar Zapata, David McMahon, Mike Rush, Andrew Gray, Maryetta Russell, Patrick Butler, Susan Tucker.

Members Absent:  Pam Clifford, Aubrey Novak, Tara Kennedy, Kevin Glick.

Meeting convened at 2:00 PM.

COMMITTEE FAIR:
We'll help committees buy food. Next year we should ask other committees to help fund the event. We reviewed and approved Cesar's PowerPoint presentation to run on a laptop at the LiSA table during the fair.

BLOOD DRIVE:
To be held 7/25. 2 rooms have been approved for use in the Law school. We need to have custodial staff remove the furniture from the rooms, as the Red Cross will bring their own.

NOOKS AND CRANNIES TOURS:
The tour of the music library went well. Poor weather caused some cancellations. A longer tour might be better. Susan Thompson was the contact person.

FIELD DAY:
To be held 7/22 at the College Woods Picnic Pavilion at East Rock Park . Alice will allow the use of her pool for one hour, but we need to find a lifeguard.

THANK YOU CARDS:
Amanda Patrick provided thank you cards we can give to volunteers, tour hosts, the shipping department, etc. for helping with LiSA functions.

NEW STAFF RECEPTION:
Diane Turner was upset that people had taken too much food and left. We came up with some strategies to prevent that in the future:

• Hold the event somewhere more private (SSS, President's room, Grad. Studies Rm. 211, Beineke mezzanine).
• Close the door to the Memorabilia Room.
• Put food out more gradually.
• Don't put food out until the end.
• Assign a food guard to monitor how much people take and scare off would-be gluttons.
• Have Alice or Diane send out an angry email.

CALL FOR NEW MEMBERS:
Ruth will send an email this or next week. We'll need to replace three C&T members and three M&P members.
