Art and Architecture Café
MEMBERS PRESENT: Andrew Gray, Kathryn James, Tara Kennedy, Pina Laursen, David McMahon, Maryetta Russell, Susan Tucker, Melissa VanTine, Paula Zyats.
MEMBERS ABSENT: Sarah Burge, Pamela Clifford, Gareth Gibson, Mike Rush.
Meeting convened at 2 PM.
NEW STAFF RECEPTION:
The Fall New Staff Reception will be held on Monday, October 23, 2006 from 3 PM-5 PM at the Sheffield-Sterling-Strathcona Hall (SSS) in room 405. We will have access to the room at 2 PM in order to set up. Paula reported that there will be 22 new staff honored, which could mean that at least 125 people will attend the event. Paula is also working on the choice of caterers. Right now she is considering Cranberries, Chestnut Foods and the Yale Catering Service. She will make a decision with the next few days. Because the event is being held outside of Sterling , we will be able to include hot items on the menu. We are also considering alcohol but will need to get permission from Diane Turner.
BOOK DRIVE:
We already have 400 books for the annual Fall United Way/Yale/ New Haven Reads Book Drive. There is still one more week left for the Drive. It will end next Friday, September 29, 2006.
HOLIDAY PARTY:
David reported that we will get $6000 for the Holiday Party. Tara Kennedy and Melissa VanTine will be the co-chairs for this event. The first step will be to select a date in December. Maryetta will check the AULs schedules.
HOLIDAY RAFFLE:
Mike Rush and Kathryn James will co-chair this event. We will start collecting donations for the Raffle in the beginning of November and will start selling tickets in the beginning of December. Andrew has the form letter that we give to those who donate to the Raffle.
FOOD DRIVE:
Maryetta Russell, Pina Laursen, and Paula Zyats volunteered to co-chair the Food Drive . Maryetta will contact Nancy Carrington at the Connecticut Food Bank.
CHAIRS FOR OTHER EVENTS:
Pina Laursen volunteered to chair the Spring Book Drive for Columbus House.
OFFICERS:
We did not have enough of the committee membership to vote on the Co-Chair. Tara volunteered to be the secretary. We will also need a web master for next year.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:50 pm.
