March 8, 2007

MEMBERS PRESENT: Melissa VanTine (Minute Taker), Gareth Gibson, David McMahon, Susan Tucker, Pamela Clifford, Michael Rush, Andrew Gray, Maryetta Russell, Kathryn James.

MEMBERS ABSENT: Sarah Burge, Paula Zyats, Tara Kennedy, Josephine Laursen.

Meeting convened at 2:00 PM.

NEW STAFF RECEPTION:
Gareth filled us in on his work chairing the New Staff Reception. It will take place April 27th in the Hall of Graduate Studies, Room 211. We have the room booked from 2:30-5:15. Gareth went over a couple of possible caterers but the group felt we should go with Yale's Dining Hall Service to cater the event. The group decided to get a cake with a picture of Sterling Memorial Library on it, cookies, fruit, and a cheese platter. Yale Catering will deliver the food and beverages free before 5:00 and we will most likely return the carafes the next day. We have a budget of $3,000. Contact at Yale Catering is MaryAnn 6-2382.

SPRING FOOD DRIVE:
The spring food drive is under way. Sterling Memorial Library already has four boxes in the "sick room." Three boxes have been delivered to each library to collect food items from March 5-30th. The boxes will be picked up from each library on March 30th by Eli Express and delivered to SML and then transported to the CT Food Bank. If boxes fill up before March 30th contact Maryetta Russell and she will get the boxes picked up earlier.

NOOKS & CRANNIES:

• Cesar will lead the tour of the Law Library on March 21st at 12 and 2:30 p.m. The group will be divided into 2 groups of 6 for each tour time.
• A tour of the Yale Whale will be on May 9th at noon.
• Tara and Gareth are working on a tour of the Preservation Department. No date yet.
• A tour of LSF is in the works by Maryetta.

ICE CREAM SOCIAL:
The group decided to wait for new LiSA members to be selected in May to decide who will chair the event. The group discussed waiting until after the committee fair to select members.

ART EXHIBIT:
A collection of library staffs' art work will be on display the entire month of August. Melissa will chair the event. Tara and Gareth spoke about making a pamphlet of artists to hand out along with the exhibit to give a brief synopsis of the artists showcased. Aubrey Novak did the event two years ago and Amanda Patrick coordinates the exhibit space.
