Meeting convened at 2:04 p.m. by Gareth Gibson

STAFF ART EXHIBIT:

Melissa is chairing this exhibit. There will be 30-35 staff members displaying their art in the hallway of Sterling Memorial Library across from the Selin Courtyard during the month of August. A brochure, containing short biographies of the artist and a description of the art work, will be available next week by electronic access along with a few print copies. LiSA volunteers will be needed to assist on the installation date - August 1 (next Wednesday).

ICE CREAM SOCIAL:

The Ice Cream Social will be held on Wednesday, August 8, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in the Selin Courtyard. A short discussion was held about additional food options now possible with the increased funding by Diane Turner. Options are limited since no open flames are allowed in Sterling Library including the Selin Courtyard. Sarah Burge and Kathryn James (event co-chairs) will meet to discuss the specific details of food and entertainment so they can obtain the assistance of LiSA members.

NOOKS & CRANNIES TOURS:

Gareth mentioned that Geoffrey Little (Associate Librarian for Library Development and Communications) had asked him if one session of each Nooks & Crannies tour could be opened to the public. Melissa said that the recent tour of the Observatory had gone well and was quite popular. There is already a waiting list for the next tour.

Gareth passed out a list of possible old and new places for the Nooks & Crannies tours. LiSA members are responsible for making contact with the site, coordinating a date, and establishing visit parameters. LiSA members signed up for tour sites and will be scheduling them in the next two months, hopefully two each month.

BLOOD DRIVE:

Gareth discussed the responsibilities for LiSA if we sponsor a blood drive. The Red Cross coordinates the activity, but we would provide juice, snacks, and volunteers. Even though there was a blood drive last week at the Yale Law School, LiSA could sponsor another drive in September. Clayton will chair this drive.

COMMITTEE FAIR:

Gareth has been contacted by Michael Scott about LiSA's assistance with the Committee Fair. The fair is an event held in Sterling Lecture Hall to recruit new volunteers for Library committees. This year's fair will probably be held in September or October.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS:

Volunteers for LiSA officers, Martha Repp as a Co-Chair and Barbara Heck as Secretary, were accepted.

MEETING TIME AND PLACE:

The next meeting will be Thursday, August 9, in the second floor classroom of the British Arts Center from 2:00-3:00 p.m..
