LiSA Minutes
August 23, 2007
Divinity School Library - Conference Room

Meeting convened at 2:07 p.m. by Gareth Gibson.

Attending: Gareth Gibson, Barbara Heck, Laura Tatum, Kathryn James, Martha Repp, Soli Johnson, Melissa VanTine, Daniel Hartwig, Andrew Gray, Clayton McGahee, and Pina Laursen.

BLOOD DRIVE:
Gareth reviewed the division of responsibilities for the Red Cross blood drive. The Red Cross contact had called him back with the next available open date of November 28. Laura and Pina will assist Gareth with this endeavor.

STAFF ART EXHIBIT:
Geoffrey Little in Library Development has put a link for us to the Staff Art Exhibit so people can see photographs of the exhibit. Melissa mentioned that she will need some assistance on Friday with staff retrieving their items. She will send out an e-mail about this to LiSA members.

WEB PAGE:
Gareth had asked members to look at the site before this next meeting. Melissa suggested that the section about annual reports be updated. We will also talk at the next meeting about any additional editing or additions.

HOLIDAY PARTY:
Melissa and Barbara will co-chair the Holiday Party. Kathryn James said that the Beinecke is in the midst of a renovation involving scaffolding but it should be complete by November 23rd if we want to use their space as a venue. Andrew said that he thought that the party may have outgrown that space. Barbara and Melissa are investigating the possibility of other venues and will return to the Committee with alternatives so we can make a selection.

HOLIDAY RAFFLE:
Kathryn will co-chair the Holiday Raffle with Martha and Gareth, but will not be able to attend the actual event. Kathryn will send out a list of potential donors by locations so we can use that as a starting point for our solicitations. Andrew asked if the donee was Columbus House. Molly Wheeler from last year’s LiSA Committee had some ideas about additional donees since the net donation was about $2500.00. Fellowship Place which provides services for the mentally disabled was mentioned as a possibility.

COMMITTEE FAIR:
Sharon Tarascio and Mike Scott came to the meeting to discuss the Fair. We would need at least six Library Committees to have a fair. The Fair, which is an opportunity for Library staff to learn about various Library Committee opportunities, will be held in October or November (closer to the committee membership change period in January). Martha and Soli will be in charge of getting refreshments, tables, and staffing in the Sterling Lecture Hall.

NOOKS & CRANNIES:
The next Tour will be of the Divinity School on September 12. Upcoming tours include the Yale Observatory, Peabody Museum, and Yale Sustainable Agriculture.

MEETING TIME AND PLACE:
The next meeting will be Thursday, September 6, in the Sterling Library from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m..
