LiSA Minutes
October 23, 2008
Divinity Library, Room S212
Meeting convened at 2:00 p.m. by Soli Johnson.
MEMBERS PRESENT:
Soli Johnson, Barbara Heck, Clayton McGahee, Katherine Eow, Gennifer Baker, Laura Tatum, and Abdul Hannawi.
HOLIDAY PARTY:
B. Heck reports that Library Admin feels that L&B room should not be closed early during reading week on 12/10. Suggested date of 12/17. Some feel that this date is too close to the release date for library staff. Others feel that since staff are already on-site, it will not be an imposition for them to attend the party. Waiting to hear from Tam Rankin as to whether all AULs are available to attend the party on 12/17. B. Heck will lock in caterers while on vacation. Getting quote on sustainable menu vs. regular menu. G. Baker also suggested name of possible caterer. S. Johnson looking at ways to make event sustainable, aside from using compostable utensils (source of confusion when disposing of used utensils at Ice Cream Social). New laws in CT require police presence when there is a party with alcohol on campus with more than 25 attendees. Last year John Vincenti and his staff provided this service gratis. B. Heck checking into whether they will do it again this year, or whether we will need to hire Yale Police for the event. Yale Catering is the only approved caterer to provide bartending services at the Library. Staff will need to produce government-issued Ids with birth date in order to drink at event.
HOLIDAY RAFFLE:
Raffle letters will go out this week by S. Johnson. Will also identify other local vendors that were not on original list and send letters to them.
NOOKS & CRANNIES:
Rebecca scheduling tour of newly renovated A&A Building and Loria Center (date TBD). S. Johnson scheduled tour of Divinity Library (11/13), and C. McGahee scheduled tour of New Haven Museum and Historical Society (12/3).
HOLIDAY FOOD DRIVE:
The possibility was discussed, and it was believed that it was too close to the last food drive held in the summer.
BLOOD DRIVE:
S. Johnson is contacting CT Red Cross about hosting a drive.
MEETING TIME AND PLACE:
The next meeting will take place on November 6th in possibly the Law School.
