First move of materials from Beineck Library
August 24, 2009

Campus TR&S delivered the first shipment of materials, all archival
boxes, to the LSF loading dock.

Routine protection of the shipment were provided, including
shrink wrap, and careful stacking on pallets.

A manual pallet jack was used to remove materials
from the truck.

Next, material was brought into the LSF processing area.

Pallets were staged by TRS staff in the processing area prior to the
cleaning.

A total of 444 boxes were transferred from the Beinecke Library to the
LSF.

Following LSF accessioning protocols, Rich Signor cleaned each box.

After the items are cleaned and restacked, they were
accessed using a portable data terminal (PDT).

Once brought into the shelving module, LSF staff
member, Kevin Lynch placed each box on the shelf.

The accessioning process of such materials ends with
each box being given a specific shelving location, using
a portable data terminal (PDT).
