This webform is NOT
intended to be used to initiate a transfer of ownership from one on-campus collection
to another while returning a title to campus from the LSF. Its purpose is limited
to returning materials to their original on-campus locations.
Selectors are
reminded that the AUL for Collections, by Yale Library policy and practice over
the years, is charged with approving the transfer of materials from one collection
to another (with the exception of titles needed for reserve which are transferred
to CCL from the SML stacks, SML items shelved at Mudd or items from any on-campus
collection which circulate from the LSF).
Recently, it was
agreed in Collections Development Council that the above policy applies in general
to (1) extraordinary requests; and/or (2) transfer of books in quantity, rather
than one or two at a time. CDC agreed that a modest number of non-reserve, collection
to collection transfers could be done when all the interested parties are in
agreement, without receiving individual approval from the AUL. Interested parties
could or would include all the affected selectors, the department heads and those
responsible for determining whether there is space in the on-campus location
to shelve the transferred items.
In order to arrange
for transfer from one collection to another, selectors are advised to first return
a title from the LSF to its original location. This form is used for that purpose.
Once a title has
returned to its original, on-campus location, selectors are advised to consult
with all of the interested parties. Once agreement is reached to transfer a title
from one on-campus collection to another, the appropriate cataloging unit (the
one associated with it's original location) will process the transfer according
the established policies and procedures. These are found at: http://www.library.yale.edu/catman/catmaint/transfer4.htm
