Rescue Repository System Requirements — for Version 2.0

Operating System-

Windows (2000, XP, Vista)

Mac OS is not supported at this time (the RR depends on Windows mapped drives to connect to the RR server).

Valid Source drives-

Rescue Repository Ingest Service will validate objects in your source drive using JSTOR/Harvard's Jhove software and then transfer them to the Rescue Repository server. The service does not provide for troubleshooting problems with a source file.

Additionally, a source must be a valid (mapped or local) Windows drive on your PC in order to use it with the Rescue Repository ingest application. The drive must be readable and intact (not corrupted). The network connection to a mapped drive must also be optimal (as a test, copy a file from your source and paste somewhere onto your PC. If this process takes longer than it should, your connection to the source is not optimal and you may have problems using the Rescue Repository Ingest application.

Network connection-

The Rescue Repository service may be affected by a slow network connection to the Rescue Repository server on the PC you are using. Check with your workstation support contact to determine your connection speed- a 100 MB/s speed or higher is recommended for optimal RR application performance. Higher connection speeds are recommended for collections with very large files. NOTE: Network performance may also be affected by other network activities or processes.
