Create/Modify a Database

Use this form to enter information about a database for its MetaLib IRD (Information Resource Description) record. This data will be entered into MetaLib and you will be notified when this process is complete. MetaLib will take the place of DBOW, and where possible, this form includes the name of the comparable field in DBOW.

Please note:

  • The turnaround time for updates to an existing IRD is 24 hrs.
  • Turnaround time for adding new IRDs is 3 days.
  • When resources are added, a status of testing will be applied before making it available to the public.

Link Type: Link Only Search and Display Search and Link Unavailable CDROM

All databases, regardless of Link Type, appear in Find Databases.

    In Multi-Database Search:
  • Link Only: Both searching and viewing must be performed outside of MetaLib. Individual Link Only databases are not included in multi-database subcategories. Instead they are incorporated into a deeplink search.
  • Search and Display: the search is executed in MetaLib and the results are presented through the MetaLib interface
  • Search and Link: the search is executed from MetaLib but the results must be viewed in the native interface
  • Unavailable: resource is temporarily unavailable

Category and Subcategory:
To choose multiple categories, hold down the Control key (Ctrl) and use the mouse to select.
If the resource is a "Link Only" we will use the category information to add the resource to a "Click for more..." deep link record.
Quickset Recommendation:
To choose multiple categories, hold down the Control key (Ctrl) and use the mouse to select.
Do not select a Quickset if the database is "Link Only". Please note that Quickset recommendations will be evaluated by PIC.
