Note: Use of Insight is limited to the Yale campus - if you are off campus, you must use Yale PPP or the Yale VPN to install Insight.
Staff who have helped a student with a problem related to Insight, or have experienced problems themselves using Insight, are asked to supply information about the problem using the form.
Installing the Insight® Client (PC or Mac)
This Insight client is
written in Java and installs on a user's computer. It provides the rich user
environment and full tool set for media collections. Users, working with
high-resolution images, audio or video files can perform searches, organize and
group content, create presentations, and view text data relating to those
resources.
Step 1:
Install the Insight client (Windows)
Insight no longer supports any Mac OS earlier than version 10.2. For automatic installation on the Mac, you must use Microsoft Internet Explorer (located in your "Applications" Folder) to click on the above link. Safari will not work correctly with this link.
Note: If you are using an unsupported Operating System or if you are having trouble accessing Insight, alternate browser access is available through the Visual Resources Collection Digital Library.
Step 2: (if you do not already have a user name and password)
Click here to obtain a user name and password to access Insight.
Note about your NetID: You will be prompted for a user name and password. You should enter your Yale NetID and Password. Your Yale NetID and password are what you use to access your Yale e-mail.
Installing the QuickTime Viewer
Apple's Quicktime Player software is used by Luna Insight to play video clips. Download and install it if you wish to use this feature of the Luna software.
