PowerPoint 2000 Add-in: Photo Album Add-in Program
 

How to: [ Download ] [ Install ] [ Use ]



Helpful Hints:
  • Make sure you have the pictures oriented in the correct manner (horizontal or vertical etc.) in your images folder before you acquire all of them. (You can't change them later in Photo Album itself).
  • To import the images on a black background instead of white: Select Format--> Slide Color Scheme--> Custom--> Background--> [Black]--> Apply to all.


Download

1. Click here: http://office.microsoft.com/Downloads/2000/album.aspx . The download page will open in a new window.

2. In the new window, click the "Download Now" button (see image below).

3.  A "File Download" window will open. Make sure "Save this program to disk" is selected, and then click "OK."

4. A "Save As" window will open.

5. First, click "Desktop" in the left column, and then click "Save."

6.The installer will download itself. When the screen says "Download Complete," click "Close."




Install

1. Go to your Desktop. Find the icon labeled "album" and double-click it.

2. A setup window will open. Click "Next."

3. Click "I accept the License Agreement," and then click "Next."

4. At the next screen, click "Next" again.

5.  The program will begin installing. When installation is complete, click "Finish."



Use

This program will allow you to insert pictures from your computer, from a network drive, from a scanner, or from a digital camera. Instructions follow.

  • How to insert picture files from your computer or a network drive

1. Start PowerPoint 2000 and click New in the File menu.

2. On the General tab, click PhotoAlbum, and then click OK.

3. Click File/Disk.

4. Select the pictures you want to include.

You can select multiple files by clicking on the first file and then holding down the CTRL key while clicking on additional files.

You can also hold down the mouse key and drag a box over a large group of files to select all of them .

5. When you have selected your files, click "Insert."

6. The Photo Album window returns with your pictures in it. You can use the arrows next to the list to select the order in which your pictures will be displayed.

Then, In the Album Layout area, you can choose how you want your pictures to be arranged into slides. Later, you will be able to rearrange the individual slides yourself, but this window is your only chance to make PowerPoint arrange all pictures in a uniform format for you.

7. When you are ready, click "Create."

8. A message box will appear; read it and click OK.

9. Congratulations! Your new presentation  has been created. You can now type headings and notes, rearrange objects, and make other changes directly on the slides.

  • How to import pictures from a scanner or a digital camera (for experienced users)
First, follow Steps 1 and 2 in the previous section.

3. In Step 3, click Scanner/Camera.

4. Select the device you want to retrieve images from and then click Insertto use the default capture settings or Custom Insert to modify the capture settings.

5. Skip to Step 6 in the previous section and follow the remainder of those instructions.
