In order to use this electronic order request form, you must have identified the images you would like to order. Manuscripts and Archives provides digital copies of images from the Manuscripts and Archives Digital Images Database, MADID, at 600dpi (tiff files). This is a high enough resolution for most publishing needs, but we can also provide the images at 800dpi, 1200dpi and 2400dpi, which are sometimes required for audio-visual applications. There is an extra charge for the higher resolution scans. See Copy Formats page for more information.

FEES AND PROCEDURES: We charge $15 per image, plus a shipping/transfer fee of $8. Higher resolution scans are $35 per image.

We deliver images on a CD, which we will ship to you, or through an electronic file transfer process (EFT) in which you download the images directly to your computer from a Yale server. You receive an email with a URL and directions to complete the download. Please indicate your choice of delivery method on the form below. We do not send images through email.

When we have receive your electronic order request form, we will send you forms and an invoice that will have to be completed, signed and returned to us before we can process your order. All orders must be pre-paid.

Copyright: Copyright information is included on the bibliographic description that accompanies each image in our database. If there is no information or if the copyright holder is a non-Yale entity, then Yale University does not have the authority to grant or deny permission for use or publication, and does not charge a fee for use. Yale provides access to and copies of this material to the public for scholarly and research purposes. In the case where a copyright holder is noted, the copyright holder must be contacted for permission for use. In the case where Yale University is noted as the copyright holder, there is a $50 fee per image charged for use in commercial productions or distributions. At the time that you have specific publication details (title, publisher, author, date, etc.), you should contact us for the appropriate permission form (mssa.assist@yale.edu). Resolving any copyright issues that may arise is your responsibility.
