USING MATERIALS IN MANUSCRIPTS AND ARCHIVES

Since Manuscripts and Archives does not have open stacks, you will need to submit a call slip for materials you wish to examine. There are currently four different colored call slips used in Manuscripts and Archives

Blue form
Goldenrod form
Pink form
Yellow form

All manuscript and archival collections are paged according to a schedule.

Because the majority of collections are shelved at the Library Shelving Facility, researchers are strongly encouraged to call or write ahead of time, to ensure their materials are available for research. You may submit a call slip in advance of your research visit. Paged materials are held up to five working days.

Be realistic about the amount of material you will be able to go through during your research visit. You may have up to five items (books, microforms, and boxes) at your reading table.
