INFORMATION FOR YALE OFFICES :: RECORDS SCHEDULES
In an effort to preserve
and maintain its history, Yale University seeks to retain certain documentation
concerning research initiatives conducted by members of Yale University.
Specific topics of interest include:
- Research project initiatives, processes, and products;
- Administration of humanities and arts research initiatives;
- Development of
areas of expertise for Yale's scientific community, including research
centers and institutes; and
- Development of recognized areas of expertise in the Yale community.
Archival records
(Permanent records should be transferred to the Archives.
Please arrange timing and frequency of records transfer with Archives
staff.)
- Documentation
of procedures followed to meet professional standards and satisfy conditions
set by granting agencies
- Copyright records and patents
- Formal proposal
- Planning and proposal development records
- Policies and procedures for administration of humanities and arts initiatives
- Research notes
- Sponsored projects and awards
- The finished product of the research

Office of record
Individuals, units, and centers conducting or
administering research projects maintain the record copy of documentation
about humanities and arts research at the university. Individual offices
that are not responsible for the creation of such records, but that
maintain duplicates of such works or related materials, should destroy
these files after they are no longer needed. |

requiring temporary retention for legal purposes
(Unless
otherwise noted, destroy 7 years following active use or fiscal year of
creation, whichever is later.)

- General correspondence
