The Papers of Vladimir and Wanda Toscanini Horowitz
Gilmore Music Library
Vladimir Horowitz (1903–1989) was the most renowned pianist of the 20th century. His dazzling technique, distinctive interpretations, and complex and colorful personal history made him a major celebrity. It is no surprise that his hands were immortalized in bronze.
The Horowitz Papers contain not only this bronze cast, but also the wax cast that was apparently used to make it. In addition, the Gilmore Library has a bust of Horowitz, created by Dr. Stanley Taub, who is both a sculptor and a plastic surgeon.
