Treasures from our Archives

Once in a while we will treat you to treasures from our Library's archives. This week we present a letter by Muzio Clementi, dated March 12, 1802. In the letter, addressed to his brother, Clementi discusses the shipping of a piano manufactured by his company. A Musical Quote by August Willhelm Bach

If you were thinking this was one of Bach's many sons think again! A.W. Bach, a German organist, teacher and composer was not a descendant of J.S. Bach. He received his earliest musical training from his father Gottfried Bach, organist at the Dreifaltigkeitskirche in Berlin. More details and a scan of our manuscript at: http://www.library.yale.edu/musiclib/exhibits/showcase_collections/august_w_bach.html
