Suggestions:
|
|
|
|
Perhaps
it would be helpful, if the OACIS team at Yale could inform participating
institutions on current developments on a regular basis (once a month?)
and ask partners to respond to this short report if they have comments.
This could be useful even if progress during one month may be comparatively
small. Such a report could function as a reminder for all to pursue
OACIS aims continuously in their local contexts and as an orientation
where in the scheme we currently are. |
|
|
|
|
|
| 17. |
If a participating institution decides to leave the OACIS project should the data from that institution be: |
| |
Archived
(held in a separate database) |
2 |
|
|
| |
Deleted
(removed entirely from OACIS database) |

|

Deletion
is to ensure that only the most up-to-date information is available. |
| |
Retained
(kept in the database, as is) |

as is but marked as "frozen" |
| |

|
These
and other particulars of the project should be part of a written cooperation
agreement which all current (and later new) partners could sign. |

All
of the above, plus one should consider funding from the Gulf States and/or
Saudi (if these haven’t been approached already); esp. in countries where
librarianship and library science education are growing or in demand. |

There
was a program of joint funding sponsored by NSF and DFG (German Research
Foundation) in the field of digital libraries last year. I have asked the
DFG whether there will be a second phase to that program but have not received
any response from there until now. I will send information on the result
of my inquiry to OACIS. |

a blurb or two published in some of the Arabic daily newspapers/magazines
once partner institutions from the region get on board. This will go a long
way in attracting others to the project. |
