Suggestions:

Perhaps it would be helpful, if the OACIS team at Yale could inform participating institutions on current developments on a regular basis (once a month?) and ask partners to respond to this short report if they have comments. This could be useful even if progress during one month may be comparatively small. Such a report could function as a reminder for all to pursue OACIS aims continuously in their local contexts and as an orientation where in the scheme we currently are.
17. If a participating institution decides to leave the OACIS project should the data from that institution be:
Archived (held in a separate database) 2
Deleted (removed entirely from OACIS database) 1
comments:     Deletion is to ensure that only the most up-to-date information is available.
Retained (kept in the database, as is) 2
comments:     retained as is but marked as "frozen"
These and other particulars of the project should be part of a written cooperation agreement which all current (and later new) partners could sign.
  Other 1
comments:     Institution should decide about own data
18. Possible methods to achieve / foster sustainability (circle all that apply)
  Auxiliary grant funding 3
  IMLS grants for digitization 2
Title VI second phase funding 2
  Other 1
  o Suggestions?
All of the above, plus one should consider funding from the Gulf States and/or Saudi (if these havenít been approached already); esp. in countries where librarianship and library science education are growing or in demand.
Apply for new, but related, grants
There was a program of joint funding sponsored by NSF and DFG (German Research Foundation) in the field of digital libraries last year. I have asked the DFG whether there will be a second phase to that program but have not received any response from there until now. I will send information on the result of my inquiry to OACIS.
19. Methods of promoting the OACIS project (circle all that apply)
  Article publication 6
o Suggest where?     MELA NOTES / MESA Confer
higher education and Middle East studies journals
        MELA notes, MESA Bulletin news
Library Journal, MESA Journal, College and Research Libraries News, IFLA Journal, something in American Libraries wouldnít hurt either. o Also consider having a blurb or two published in some of the Arabic daily newspapers/magazines once partner institutions from the region get on board. This will go a long way in attracting others to the project.
        MELA Notes
        D-LIB Magazine (http://www.dlib.org/)
  Presentation delivery 5
o Suggest where?     MELA / MESA Confer
MESA Conference, ALA Conference, IFLA Conference, MELCOM, Arab Federation for Libraries and Information conference, etc
Middle East Librarians Associationís Annual Meeting and in the MELA NOTES
        middle east countries
MESA, MELA, AOS, MELCOM conferences (OACIS was part of Halleís presentation at this years MELCOM conference in Beirut already, we will continue to point to the fact that MENALIB cooperates with other strong Middle East collections within the framework of OACIS)
  Website announcement 5
o Suggest where?     on partner sites
        each participantís web site
        all participating institution websites
        DLF web site
OACIS is mentioned on the MENALIB website as partner, further announcements on MESA, MELA, AOS, LOC (?) websites would be useful, all Middle East librarians at least in the U.S: should be invited to put a link to OACIS on their websites
  Other 1
Mailing lists like Adabiyat, MELANET, LIS-Middle-East (MELCOM), H-MIDEAST-MEDIEVAL@H-NET.MSU.EDU .
