1. Identification of additional background documents

Three items were added to our list of potentially useful background documents:

        Comments from catalogers using the Ex Libris system at Notre Dame
        [e-mail message sent by Manon]

        Comments from a music cataloger using the Sirsi system at USC
        [e-mail message sent by Mickey]

        Training materials on implementation website for the Endeavor system at Cornell

2. Identification of functional categories

The following basic categories were identified as likely candidates for organizing our final checklist.  The categories will probably evolve as we
develop the checklist in greater detail:

        Indexing/Searching
        Shelflisting
        Record Import/Export
        Creation of New MARC Bibliographic and Authority Records
        Editing/Updating of MARC Bibliographic and Authority Records
        Heading Verification
        Catalog Maintenance
        Item Records
        MARC Holdings Records
        MARC Community Information Records
        MARC Classification Records
        Non-MARC Metadata

3. Brainstorming

Under each functional category, the group identified *many* operations to be should be included in the vendor demos.  We will work to expand and
refine these at later meetings, concentrating on one category at a time.

4. Selection of one category to work on at next meeting

The first category to be tackled will be "Record Import/Export".

5. Division of responsibilities

Individual members may be assigned primary responsibility for certain categories, although all members will have the opportunity to provide input
on all categories.  The assignment of categories will begin at the next meeting, when all members should be present.  Manon will maintain the
master demo checklist and update it as the various categories are completed and revised.  The checklist will be an Excel document; all members should
be able to read Excel attachments sent via e-mail.
