Ranked Keyword Title List: Help

Headings List Explanation - Search Tips - Search, Navigation and Output

A Ranked Keyword Title List shows results from a Ranked Keyword search.

Each row of the display includes a brief description for a single title in Orbis. A Ranked Keyword Title List display consists of five columns:

Ranked Keyword Results List

  • [#] is a temporary sequential number for the catalog record; the checkbox is used to select records for printing, saving, or e-mailing.
  • [Rank] shows the level of relevance (5 Relevancy icon =most relevant, 1/2 Half Relevancy icon =least relevant)
  • [Author] displays the main author/creator of the title.
  • [Title] displays the full title of the work.
  • [Imprint or Date] displays place, publisher and date of publication/creation.
  • [Location] gives the name of the owning library. "Multiple Locations" indicates copies in multiple Yale locations or multiple copies of the item.  Click to obtain location information from the record display.
  • [Call Number] displays unless the item is held in multiple locations. (Title has multiple holdings)
  • [Status] supplies circulation availability. "Click Title for Status" indicates that complete circulation status is only available on the Brief View or Long View record display. "Circulation status not available" on the Title List or "No information available" on a record display indicates that an item should be on the shelf in its holding location, but it does not have a barcode or its barcode is not in the system.
Display Tips:
  • If there are more results than will display on the screen, the next group of headings can be displayed by selecting the Next icon. Return to the previous group of results by selecting the Previous icon.
  • Display a single catalog record from the Ranked Keyword Title List on the screen by selecting any of the linked text in the row (author, title, date, etc.).
  • After displaying a single catalog record for the title, return to the Ranked Keyword Title List by clicking on the Titles button displayed at the top of the screen.
  • Catalog records from the Ranked Keywords Title List can be printed, saved or e-mailed. Go to the Print, Save, E-mail help screen for more information.

Search, Navigation, and Output Information:

Several lines of information relating to the search are displayed below the button bar, and at the top and bottom of the Ranked Keyword Title List on the screen:

  • Search Results:
    • A legend identifying the number of currently displayed titles (e.g., Displaying 1 through 25 of 270).
    • A search in Orbis never results in more than 10,000 catalog records, even when more than 10,000 records match the search. If the results set is truncated at 10,000, a warning message displays in the Ranked Keyword Title List display.
  • Navigation Icons:

  • In the Title List, it is possible to page forward and backward, one screen at a time, using the Previous and Next icons.
  • Clear Selected or Retained Selected:
Use these buttons to select or clear any records from the current search.  Select catalog records for printing, saving or e-mailing by selecting the check box next to the record number in the first column of the display.
  • Print, Save or E-mail:
Below the headings or titles display, a table displays with options for output.  For more information consult the help screen for Print, Save, E-mail.
