Yahoo! - http://www.yahoo.com
Yahoo! is a good site to begin exploring the internet because it indexes a relatively small number of Web pages and it is arranged by subject.
1. Simple Searching
Fill in the box on the initial Yahoo! screen, and off you go. If Yahoo! finds no matches, it will run the search against Alta Vista. Use boolean operators (AND, OR) in a simple search.

2. Advanced Searching
Click on Options on first screen to invoke the advanced search mode. There are a several different search parameters to be set in advanced searching

3. Browsing Yahoo!
Yahoo! is arranged by subject. This is another way to retrieve a set of web pages on a given topic fairly quickly, especially if it is one of the topics linked off of this first page.

When Yahoo! does not find the any hits in its own indexes, it automatically runs the search against Alta Vista.
